Agility is an obstacle course consisting of A-frames, tunnels,
teeter-totters, elevated dog-walks, and a variety of jumps.
Dogs must learn to properly negotiate all the obstacles in a course in
the right order as quickly as possible.
Dogs who train and compete in agility must get along well with both
people and other dogs, and must be under good off-leash control. Most
dogs LOVE agility, and learning how
to negotiate an agility course does wonders to instill confidence in a
timid dog. It also fosters a sense of teamwork between handler and dog
that is marvelous to experience.
We offer a variety of agility classes from basic to advanced competition
level. Classes are designed for anyone who wants to have fun with their
dog in this challenging sport.
Classes offered include:
Agility FUNdamentals
An introduction to agility for dogs that have limited or no previous
agility experience. Basic skills such as SIT,
DOWN and COME for reliable
off-leash control are required. (see Family
Dog Classes to obtain requisite skills). In Agility FUNdamentals, clicker
training will be used to introduce dogs and handlers to agility concepts
and equipment in a stepwise, positive manner. The objective is making
agility fun for you and your dog. Class is geared toward those who are
interested in teamwork, exercise or competition. Offered occasionally
