Introduction to Animal-Assisted Therapy
This 6-week positive-reinforcement based class covers the basic skills necessary for a dog / handler team to work safely and confidently in a variety of health care and educational settings.   The skills necessary to pass the Canine Good Citizen test are reviewed - such as walking on a loose leash, greeting people and other dogs politely, prompt recalls with distractions, and sitting politely for petting and grooming. Specific skills and behaviors necessary for effective therapy work are also covered in each class, as is familiarization with hospital equipment. 


Prerequisite: Completion of at least two group basic obedience classes, or permission of instructor.
