Becky Jankowski, RN, MS, CPDT is a registered nurse clinical specialist with over 20 years experience in acute care hospital settings. She is also founder and president of PAWSitive Performance Dog Training, Inc; a positive reinforcement based dog-training facility in Downers Grove. Becky has been involved in dog training and therapy dog work for the past 25 years.

In June of 2002, Becky graduated from the San Francisco SPCA’s Academy for Dog Trainers Behavioral Counseling certificate program. This nationally recognized program is regarded as the “Harvard” of dog training program in the country. In September of 2002, Becky earned her certification (CPDT) through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Trainers, the first national certification for dog trainers in history.

Becky is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the Delta Society, a nationally recognized animal-assisted therapy organization. She is also a Delta Society Team Evaluator and Instructor for the Delta Society Pet Partners program, and teaches Introduction to Animal Assisted therapy classes on a regular basis.

Becky is an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, and a licensed APDT and AKC Rally judge. Judging assignments for both venues have taken her throughout the country.

Becky has been the director and coordinator of the Pets for Vets / PAWSitive Therapy Troupe Animal-Assisted Therapy program for the past 10 years. This therapy program has grown to include 35 registered therapy dog teams. They visit patients at Hines VA Hospital and Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove and several suburban nursing homes. Becky also developed the Reading Education Assistance Dog (READ) programs at three suburban school districts. Becky and her therapy dogs have routinely logged over 200 hours each year in therapy visits to these locations.

Becky has been very competing in a variety of performance venues with her own dogs. She currently competes with her Shelties in obedience, Rally, herding, agility and flyball. They have earned advanced titles in each of these venues—a total of 85 titles in the past 10 years.
